We're thrilled to announce that we have updated of G-Scores on Gazelle. We scored 6.5 million companies. 17% of companies have seen a change in the G-Score, 1% have seen a G-Score change of 2 points or more. As always, the subscores can provide insight what is driving their current score https://support.gazelle.ai/en/articles/5786086-2021-subscore-release
How do G-Scores work?
Our G-Scores are assessed against these key sets of criteria: firm, industry and region. We look at hundreds of data points to complete our analysis using artificial intelligence that is constantly learning and evolving with each new iteration. Each company is scored relative to its peers in its industry group. We score 23 industry groups separately as we understand that industries can have quite different drivers of growth. It also means that a gscore of 3 for a software company might not mean exactly the same propensity to expand as a gscore of 3 for a construction company.
If you want to learn about what the different G-Scores mean, here's a short article that dives into How G-Scores Work. There is also a short interview with Gazelle.ai's Chief Economist, Dr. Hugh Kelley here.
What’s New With This 2025 H2 Update?
We have observed that the overall average share of firms predicted to expand (G-Score of 2-5) across all industries has moved higher.
This suggests that firms have higher propensity to expand in 2025-26 compared to 2024-25, but the industry mix of expanders and trends related to this have somewhat changed.
Finance & Insurance, Food & Beverages, and Primary & Fabricated Metals, were some of the industries with the strongest expansion potential
In contrast, companies for example in IT and Electrical Equipment Manufacturing have seen the least expansion potential
Why Does X / Y / Z Company Not Have A G-Score?
Broadly speaking, there are three possible reasons a given company might not have a G-Score.
Newly-Added Company: Because of the very time-consuming process of constructing G-Scores and scoring them, we create our scores in large batches, generally the entire platform as it exists at a given time. As part of our more regular data updates, such as trade shows and featured lists, we will of course also continuously create new companies in the time between G-Score rounds. These companies will not have G-Scores until the next scoring round and are marked with a N/A to reflect this.
Branch Location: We do not score branches of companies for the sake of clarity and readability of the platform.
Invalid NAICS Code: Gazelle.ai is a tool designed specifically to identify expanding companies which are most responsible for economic dynamism, growth, and hiring in their respective industries. Because of this, there are some NAICS codes, like agricultural activities or government services, that we do not include in our data set, as they fall outside the scope of our data thesis. In the event that such a company is added to the platform through one of our data providers, its G-Score is listed as "N/A."
